I was a little behind in keeping up on changes that were/are/is/hopefully comming in 3.2 (zomg did I hear them say a paladin-only charger? EEE! MOUNTS!) and I saw that Kill Command was getting a bit of a leg up:
(From the PTR Pacth Notes)
“Catlike Reflexes now also reduces the cooldown of your Kill Command ability by 10/20/30 seconds”
I normally don’t take Catlike Reflexes when I talent myself for BM (Or have to re-talent for some reason) but with the changes to KC, I am wondering if it’ll be enough of a DPS boost to warrant taking Catlike Reflexes? Here’s the talent build that I tossed together, taking Catlike Reflexes as if it already had the changes implimented:
55/11/5
What do you guys think? Again, I can’t get on the PTR (*pouts*) So I really can’t test this out untill it goes live….but if some of you are on the PTR, tell me what your results are if you do test this!
This post is about two things, one, my billionth apology to Kinlderas for not having his picture done…(You too, Maebius)
It would seem recently that I ahve been in an ‘art slump’ and when I draw I’m exremely unsatisfied with wha tI draw or start over. This, as you would immagine, makes it hard to entirely finish any drawing of any sort. -_-
Second part of the post:
I’m still looking for that Chimera in netherstorm. OMG. With so few people out there you would not have thoguht it so hard to find! Must be my luck, I swear! *grumbles* But like my Warpstalker, I can’t have JUST any ole chimera…oh no. So the hunt continues.
In non-hunter news, my Paladin, Shaakti, has reached 70! *waves little party flags* She’s well on her way to reach 71 (5 bars). I healed The Nexus with her the other day, and that was an interesting experiance. Granted we had two 80’s in the group, we had no wipes…and this is with half-a gear set. Azjol-Nerub did not go so well though due to several factors, but we completed the run in any case. This means, because of lovely dual-specs, I can Tank and Heal! I enjoy both and maybe I’ll even get HealBot…if I can figure out how to use it, that is.
First off, OMFG.
Secondly, this was made by Invisusira (YouTube user name Atraira). Now, you must watch.
Ulduar: Defiance
(P.S. Some one who uses Wordpress PLESE help me with embedding videos…)
So, as with the great warpstalker tame of TBC where I got my dearest Elli (Gezzerak the Huntress) I want a chimera, but can I have just any one chimera? Nope! So in my spare time, I ahve been looking for Nuramoc out in Netherstorm. But alas, no luck in this venture yet.
In other news, I am working on hose pictures, guys. I promise. Said that before, I know, I know. I have also been raiding with Oy (my green raptor) alot more often now. This change came after re-reading Jurassic Park and then watching the original movie on VHS. That was freaking sweet. I love raptors.
My Next post is going to be about…something amazingly interesting. I promise.
So, ages ago, or so it feels like, I promised a “2nd” part to my kiting guide. Well! here it is!
What I’ll do is outline some strategies to hopefully help you kite a mob/add/etc which will hopefully help you not take any or very little damage from them.
Alright! here we go….
When you happen to have only one mob (victim, npc, whatever) I tend to use an Ice Trap. But here’s what I start off with: Concussive Shot then Arcane Shot; remember not to use Arcane shot untill the daze effect of Concussive Shot has worn off. while you’ve smacked the target with Concussive shot, you’ll want to have put as much distance between yourself and it. Then, lay down an ice trap, if the target can be trapped. I suggest this because it gives time for your Concussive Shot to cool down. When the trap breaks, use serpent sting, and then Concussive Shot again, and Arcane Shot after that. This method with the Ice Trap (not Frost Trap) will give you a bit of a break an leeway when Kiting a single target.
However…
Most of the time you won’t be kiting a single target but multiple ones, and in the case of Gluth in Naxx, you’ll be keeping tabs on many, many targets. For this you’ll want to lay down Frost Trap between you and your target(s!) and grab their attention with a concussive shot, or a multi-shot. This will bring them towards you and thus begins the kiting! Use the same tools listed in the above paragraph, but remember to ask yourself two things:
Am I kiting to kill?
or
Am I kiting to keep the mob’s attetion for a certain length of time?
With your first option, you’ll want to use whatever instant shot, damage capabilities that you have to wear down the target’s health before it gets to you. In the case of Gluth, where you can’t possibility kill the Zombie Chow, you’ll want to use Frost Trap (in coordination with the other hunters/kiter’s kiting method’s, etc) to kepp them slowed down and use whatever shot that’s up to grab their attention. Instant is better, of course, because you can do it on the move, which is the point of kiting. In some cases on Gluth, I have used Multi-Shot to grab the attention of Zombie Chow that was facing away from me. The same goes for a plain old auto shot.
As a last note, in a pinch, it’s not a bad idea to use Wing Clip on a target that won’t kill you and beat the crap out of you (such as the Zombie Chow will.)
What’s next? I’m feeling creative, you you nice folks might get a story from me! Oh joy! (Note Sarcasm)
I love you whatever color you may be, BigSis.
Also, you ate all thr friggin’ food. I don’t want to think about the food bill….

BigSis, a shade lighter...
School is done, finally.
Know what this means, folks? I can actually post here with regularity!
Yes, try not to be excited as I am.
Soon, I w ill have the the “Kiting and You: Part 2″ up, as well as a picture of BigSis’s new “look”. (She’s very excited about it.)
Also, there are certain people that I promised a picture, andd that is also beign worked on, I promise.
As I sit inside the cafe on the campus, rain pouring outside, I figured it was high time to write the first part of my kiting guide. Through research, I have found some useful kiting guides, and as a warning this may not be as in-depth as them, but it will be concise and to the point, and hopefully more or less easy to understand.
Unless you really want too, you shouldn’t…(and you can’t kite things around naked!)…kite without any tools. That said, there a few items you’ll be wanting to use, or know how to use. Kiting, according to WoW Wiki, is to “…keep another player or mob at a certain distance, usually out of melee and within ranged while luring the pursuer in your direction while dealing damage…” They couldn’t be more correct! Not that you can state it many other ways, of course. Here, in a list, are some of the tools you’ll need to use to keep the mob (or player if you so choose!) away from you.Remember this is written from a Beastmaster’s perspective.
These are not listed in the order you should use them, or in order of importance. Arcane shot, to start off is on this list because it does damage and is an instant shot. Concussive Shot is an instant shot, too and has the effect of slowing your target’s movement speed by 50% for four seconds. Remembering that the idea of kiting is to keep your target/victim/annoying member of the opposite faction away from you and cause damage, you’ll want to use Serpent Sting in addition to Arcane shot to help with this.
Next on the list is good old Wing Clip! Thank the WoW gods that we don’t have to wait for a dodge to be able to use this ability. /grumble If you do get into melee range, pop wing clip and you’ll slow your target for 50% of their movement speed just like concussive shot, but for a longer duration of 10 seconds. Wing Clip, like Concussive Shot, is an instant-cast.
Disengage is another lovely boon to kiting hunters. It’s more or less a backwards Blink, is an instant cast and has a 10yrd range. This means you don’t have to be on top of the target, but you are still pretty dang close. What it actually does is leaps you backwards from your target, keeping you away from it…the whole purpose of kiting, what do ya know!
Next are our three traps, Frost Trap, Immolation Trap and Explosive Trap. Frost trap is used most often, laying out an “icy slick” around it when triggered, slowing the target by 50%. It last for 30 seconds. If you can keep the target in this area, you should be able to keep them off of you. Immolation Trap is handy if you have a single target, and want to cause a bit of extra damage. Explosive trap is handy for the same reason but I recommend using it only when you have multiple targets.
Deterrence, again! Can’t you tell I love this skill? Moving along…I would use this as an *emergency* only sort of thing as you can’t truly attack when you have popped this skill. However! You can drop traps while/after using Deterrence because it’s not a “direct” attack. (I wonder how long this is fixed, eh?)
I understand that all these skills and the manner in which I described them is mildly-scattered brained! well fear not, I shall, in a day or two have a post up of what order to use these skills in for different situations. For now, go out and play and experiment and if you have any suggestions, e-mail me.
It’s the end of the school year here at Aquinas and I have nothing but paper editing, reading, writing and drawing homework for my figure-drawing class to do. Oh the joy.
I just wanted to let the few of you who read this blog I haven’t forgotten aobut your pictures I promsied I would draw for you! /nod
Also, this is also an explanation for why my post may be a bit slow for the next 2-3 weeks. I have stuff to get done, and done it shall be. That does not mean, however that I won’t be posting. Here’s some ideas for the coming weeks!
- Kiting and You! A Guide.
- Discussion of what pet to use when!
- Pet-Tanking and a possible build just for pet tanking.
- And other…amazingly….INTERESTING STUFF.
Cheers!
Last Night I was in 25-Man Naxx and picked up these two beauties!
Slime Stream Bands and Valorous Cryptstalker Spaulders !
/dance
It’s the first time in a LONG time taht I have gotten an upgrade. I think with another piece of gear from a 25 man raid (That is hopefully an upgrade) I can start switching out some of my +hit gems and enchant for +attack power ones! Of course as BM, staying hit capped is very important because +hit transfers to your pet who does a whopping amount of your dmg.
I also played around with MM and found it quite a bit of fun but reverted to BM on a few fights because I know that I can do more dmg as BM because I know the play style quite a bit better. In any case, I was in Dalaran and ran into a hunter and we thought that it would be a grand idea to take a screen shot! But alas this pretty picture of my spirit beast and their new one, Gondria, has made up it’s mind not to be found ANYWHERE on my computer. /sigh.
In any case, I hope to keep working on my MM rotation (god help me) and work on my mining which is now at 300! Woot!
